Bird Marella attorney Michael Freedman won an award of $99,307.16 in back wages and commissions for his client following a multi-day hearing before the California Labor Commissioner.
Freedman began representing the client in early 2013 after being notified by Bet Tzedek Legal Services of his complaint against his former employer. The client had been terminated from his job in 2012 and his former employer refused to pay him several years’ worth of salary and commissions that he was owed. After several days of hearings spanning much of 2014, the Labor Commissioner granted the client’s claim in its entirety, awarding him his back wages and commissions, along with liquidated damages and interest.
