After a decade-long battle involving tech titans Hewlett-Packard and Autonomy, Bird Marella name partner Gary Lincenberg, attorneys Ray Seilie and Michael Landman, and paralegal Rachel Capata won a full acquittal on behalf of their client, Autonomy’s former vice president of finance Stephen Chamberlain.
On June 6, 2024, following a three-month jury trial in federal court in San Francisco, the jury returned a unanimous verdict of not guilty for the firm’s client.
Mr. Lincenberg said, “Nothing is more gratifying than helping an innocent man return home to his family abroad. Mr. Chamberlain is a man of integrity. This was an important step in regaining his hard-earned, good name.”
Bird Marella has represented Mr. Chamberlain since 2014, shortly after the criminal investigation began. The case was one of the largest fraud prosecutions ever brought by the U.S. Department of Justice.
