Bird Marella name partner and entertainment practice co-chair Ron Nessim has been inducted as a Legal Legend by The Hollywood Reporter. The Legal Legends List honors only five attorneys annually whose “career achievements and contributions to the industry are extraordinary.” Those inducted retain the title for life.
Mr. Nessim is among the most respected litigators in Hollywood. He has been a leading authority in profit participation litigation, entertainment law and general civil litigation for decades, including successfully representing clients against major entertainment studios. He has represented high-profile clients from Don Bellisario, Dick Wolf, Eric Kripke, J.J. Abrams, Shonda Rhimes, and SAG-AFTRA, among many others. Mr. Nessim is the original author and current co-author of the profit participation chapter in LexisNexis’ 2023-2024 Entertainment Law & Litigation, a highly regarded guide on entertainment issues.
Notably, THR credited Mr. Nessim’s 2015 article, “Mandatory Arbitration Provisions in Talent-Studio Contracts and Proposed Areas for Improvement,” in an October 2019 story as the behind-the-scenes source behind a Ninth Circuit ruling in Monster Energy Company v. City Beverages, which set forth the disclosures for-profit arbitrators must make when one party is a repeat player — significantly impacting future entertainment disputes.
