Bird Marella attorneys Ariel Neuman, Nicole Rodriguez Van Dyk, Kimberly Miller, David Chao, and Doug Fretty have been selected by Super Lawyers as 2016 Rising Stars. This marks the second consecutive year that both Neuman and Chao have been selected, with Neuman being recognized for his work in white-collar litigation, and Chao for his work in civil litigation. Neuman is also listed among the “Up-and-Coming 100,” a distinction awarded to attorneys who received the highest point totals during the selection process. Van Dyk, Miller, and Fretty are newcomers to the list, with Van Dyk and Miller receiving recognition for their white-collar litigation work, while Fretty is recognized for his work in civil litigation.
Super Lawyers is a rating service of outstanding lawyers from more than 70 practice areas who have attained a high-degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. The selection process includes independent research, peer nominations, and peer evaluations. To be eligible for inclusion in Rising Stars, a candidate must be either 40 years old or younger or in practice for 10 years or less. While up to five percent of the lawyers in the state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to the Rising Stars list.
