Bird Marella attorneys Ronald J. Nessim and Michael G. Freedman authored the article “Recent Trials: Kilpatrick, Newman, and Nosal” as a part of the American Bar Association’s 2014 National Institute on White Collar Crime.
The article was published in conjunction with the Institute’s plenary panel, which Nessim has moderated for several years and which features prosecutors and defense attorneys discussing several high-profile trials in which they were involved during the previous year. This year’s article and panel highlighted three such trials: the prosecution of former Detroit mayor Kwame Kilpatric; an insider trading prosecution stemming from trades in Dell stock; and the precedent-setting prosecution of David Nosal for violations of trade secret laws and the Computer Fraud and Abuse Act.
